Study Program
USU has 13 faculties / schools, namely Medical, Legal, Agriculture, Engineering, Dentistry, Economics, Literature, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Political Sciences, Public Health, Pharmacy, Psychology, and Graduate. Number of courses offered as many as 101, consists of 8 doctoral level, 28 master, 15 specialists, 5 professional, 50 degree, diploma, and 15. Number of students registered at this time more than 32,000 people, 688 of which are foreign students.

USU campus is located in Padang Bulan, an area that is green and leafy area of 120 ha located in the center of Medan. Zone academic area of 90 ha to accommodate almost all activities and lectures praktikum student. Learning system supported by the library facilities and more than 200 laboratories. Library provides various types of learning resources in both print and electronic form. USU Library is one of the best in Indonesia at this time. Padang Bulan Campus is also supported by the information technology infrastructure to facilitate access to various information resources and knowledge to support the learning process and research students and lecturers.

A new campus area of 300 ha located in Kwala Bekala, the distance of 15 km from Padang Bulan Campus is being developed, which is currently used to support various research and experiments in the field of agriculture, forestry, plantation, and livestock. In an effort to develop ourselves as a university wide berjangkauan, USU manage Trial Garden area of approximately 550 ha in Langkat. USU has also obtained the permission of a pilot forest area of 10,000 ha in Mandailing Natal.
