In 1960, the Academy established the Djambi Perniagaan shelter under Jajasan Universities Djambi. This foundation was established on the initiative of public figures and the Government of Jambi that time and by diketuai R. Sudarsono of that time served as Mayor of Jambi. Then in 1961, the Academy Perniagaan Djambi changed to the Faculty of Economics together with the establishment of the Faculty of Law, both affiliated to the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia. They start with the two Faculties, the figures and the Local Government Jambi defend the university in a Jambi Establishment Preparation Committee through the State University of Jambi. The Minister of PTIP with 105 Tax Year 1962 dated 15 August 1962 dibentuklah Establishment Preparation Committee Jambi University. Diketuai this committee by Colonel M.J. SINGEDEKANE, which at that time was the Governor of Jambi Province.

The work of this committee is the establishment on 1 April 1963 the State University of Jambi that be with the Minister of PTIP Decree No. 25 Year 1963 dated 23 March 1963. The Preparation Committee of the State University of Jambi and two new Faculty and the Faculty of Agriculture Faculty of Animal Husbandry, so that at the time was on 1 April 1963, University of Jambi has four faculties namely Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Animal Husbandry. In 1966 out of the Republic of Indonesia Presidential Decree No. 148 which established the University with the name of the University of Jambi. But as the others, and a decree from the President is not up in Bali, so for many years to discharge the Presidential Decree Number 41 Year 1982 is called the University of the State University of Jambi. PTIP Minister Decree No. 25 Year 1963 on the side of the set in which the State University of Jambi, set a presidium that this duty is to lead the University of Colonel MJ Singedekane as the Governor of Jambi was appointed Chairman of the Preparation Committee. The period of leadership of the University system with the presidium of the beginning of this run in 1963 until the year 1977. This system ended with diangkatnya Drs.
